Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil, born on the 12th of July, 1988[1], is a Canadian performer and actress. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to win Canadian Idol's third season, which aired in 2005. O'Neil is known for her work on Syfy's sci-fi series Dark Matter. O'Neil was also known for her roles in The Rookie as Officer Lucy Chen. She was voted among the bottom two and three finals. In shock, the judges asked viewers to cast their votes for contestants like Melissa who clearly had the best vocal abilities. From that point on, O'Neil never fell back into the bottom three after her consistently high-rated performances, with the judge Zack Werner declaring that she was "a contender to win the entire competition". O'Neil together with Rex Goudie made it to the finals on September 7 the 7th of September, 2005. Werner, a judge famously announced that the headlines of the following day's papers would be "The King [Kalan Porter] is dead. Long live the Queen." In the grand final results presentation on September 14 on the 14th of September, 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to win the title of the third Canadian Idol, as well as the first female winner, and (at 17) the youngest winner of the show's history.
