
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She plays as captain and striker with the San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) the top division of women's soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team alongside Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe between 2018 until 2020. Following her graduation earlier from the University of California, Berkeley and playing with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. There, she made her professional debut and helped the team win the league title. Morgan was 22 years old at the time, and was the youngest member of the national team for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. Morgan scored the game-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final match during the 2012 London Olympics. She was second in the United States with 21 assists and 20 goals for 2012, which made her the youngest and sixth most prolific player in the country to achieve 20 goals in a single year. Morgan was later awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year , and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan also assisted in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 as well as the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, which included her on the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
